The aim of this speciality is to learn a method of working based on the analysis and diagnosis of the factors responsible for the deterioration of the different sculptural supports, both organic and inorganic.
In each case the most appropriate method is applied, identified as a result of interdisciplinary cooperation between the workshops and the laboratories.
Work is carried out on stone, metal, wood, terracotta, plaster and cardboard…
3rd Year: Inorganic Material
The practical workshop for the Conservation and Restoration of Sculpture is equipped to carry out treatment procedures on inorganic material.
In order to provide students with the morphological knowledge necessary to be able to work with this material, the course study programme begins by using lithoid materials, mainly plaster and terracotta.
During the second term work will focus on working with all types of stone used in sculpture whilst the third term will concentrate on working with metal.
The workshop has:

- Ultraviolet lamp
- Infra-red lamp
- Pneumatic tools
- Cleaning tool with micro motor
- Abrasion cleaning equipment
- Desalination system
- Traspalé hydraulic lifting system
- Hardware (computer, digital camera, card reader, CD recorder)
4th year: Organic Material
The fourth year is entirely dedicated to training the students how to work with original works on organic supports, be it wood, cardboard or marble, with or without polychrome. Notwithstanding, possible preventative measures in relation to objects in situ are taught and the latest preservation and restoration research and treatment in relation to organic sculpture is studied.
