THE STUDY PLAN

The study plan is structured in 60 ECTS credits, of which, 30 ECTS credits are mandatory and blended, 6 ECTS credits are optional and in-person, 12 ECTS credits correspond to the completion of internships in external institutions, while 12 ECTS credits correspond to the Final Master’s Project.

The Official Master’s Degree in Artistic Education in the Preventative Conservation of Movable and Immovable Cultural Heritage is a pioneering course in the European Higher Education Area as it trains competent and trained professionals in one of the emerging fields within the discipline of the Conservation-Restoration of Cultural Assets, such as Preventive Conservation, in the sense that it covers actions on both movable cultural heritage in the areas of museums and collections and in the area of immovable cultural heritage. However it also encompasses subjects that are not represented in other currently-available educational courses, such as movable heritage that is assigned to monuments and archaeological sites, these being a significant new feature in the programming of the master’s study plan.

The course also responds to the need for training in this discipline for conservators-restorers of cultural heritage, and not only in technical and professional aspects. It also opens up a path for students who are seeking to begin research work in the study of the mechanisms of heritage deterioration by means of an agreement established with the UAB.

The Master’s course has been designed in a blended manner and combines the effectiveness of face-to-face training by facilitating both a direct relationship between students and teachers and the flexibility of online training, which means that students will be able to follow the course contents in a comfortable and independent manner.

The course includes preventive conservation practices in highly-relevant institutions that preserve different types of heritage, so as to facilitate adaptation to the preferences and specialty areas of each student, and under the tutelage of specialised professionals.

The course is taught in Catalan, Spanish and English, and the main documentation will be available to students in all three of the abovementioned languages.

The ESCRBCC possesses an Erasmus Higher Education charter that allows it to facilitate student mobility in both the study and in internship modalities.
